Met at the River (feat. Xenia Manasseh)
A 1 track neo-soul single (4m 38s) — released November 20th 2020 on Extra Soul Perception
Extra Soul Perception are extremely proud to present the first single from Mara TK's forthcoming album to be released in 2021.
Mara TK is the son of legendary psychedelic rock legend Billy TK. He is a Maori-Scottish world-wandering citizen of Aotearoa (New Zealand) and was the former lead singer of critically acclaimed neo soul group Electric Wire Hustle. The group toured the world playing Glastonbury, SXSW, and performing alongside the likes of Dam-Funk, Benji B and Steve Spacek, Mos-Def, Alice Russell, Kid Koala, Just Blaze and DJ Krush.
Mara has worked in the studio with Om'Mas Keith (Sa-Ra) , Waajeed (Platinum Pied Pipers/Bling47), Steve Spacek (Eglo), Recloose and many more. This has culminated with Mara preparing to release his most musically accomplished, personal and forward thinking body of work to date.
Mara invited Xenia Menasseh to duet on the lead single, fresh from writing two tracks on Teyana Taylor's 'The Album', Xenia is tipped as one of the fastest rising talents within r'n'b. Xenia is part of the ESP. family having previously worked with the team in Nairobi releasing a collaboration with Maxwell Owin earlier this year called 'Probably Never'.
'Met at the River' is a three part future soul epic that demonstrates Mara's unique vocals alongside his exquise multi instrumental talent. Whether it be his solo work or with EWH Mara has always painted vivid pictures with his words and is one of the finest songwriters of his generation. The lyrics on 'Met at the River' are carried on a bed of swirling harps, soft, haunting keys and gives a hint of what's to come via his forthcoming album.
